Update on our Request Form: A11

Dear Sender,

At the occasion of biovis‘ 13th anniversary we have updated our request form.
Analyses and profiles so far offered were thoroughly reviewed in terms of validity, practical relevance and frequency of inquiry.

Parameters that had hardly or not at all been requested were taken out of our program and partly replaced by new, more significant alternatives. At the same time, some chapters were completed by adding further markers or profiles to our existing range of analyses.

Stool Diagnostics

Microbiome Analysis 2.0 (A712, A732) NEW

After more than 2 years and over 15,000 analyses conducted microbiome diagnostics was critically revised. The method was further optimized and is now basing on one of the most modern sequencing platforms. At the same time analysis contents were adjusted. Based on previous experience and new, pathbreaking publications we recompiled the marker germs that are included in the microbiome analysis. The results are practice oriented diagnostics that focus on the essential, guarantees detection of relevant changes in the microbiome and form a solid basis for therapeutical interventions.

Flora Status Plus (A111) NEW, Basis Profile Intestine Plus (A131) NEW

Although molecular genetic microbiome analyses gain more and more importance many therapists have difficulties in parting with the tried and tested cultivation method – the flora status. With the new „Flora Status Plus“ biovis‘ is now offering an intestinal profile that supplements the flora status by two central, solely molecular genetic detectable marker germs: Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and Akkermansia muciniphila. They give information on mucin development and mucosa barrier and are thus important preconditions for a targeted and successful prebiotic and probiotic therapy.


Profile Parasites (A178) NEW

By use of molecular genetic procedures biovis‘ has been successful in improving significantly the detection of parasites. While in the past it seemed reasonable to assume that parasites might cause unspecific abdominal pain, the requested analysis, however, was mostly negative. Previous mostly microscopical procedures required 3 as fresh as possible stool samples. The new molecular genetic test requires only 1 stool sample (cost saving). The sensitivity is considerably highler than with previous test and a clear separation of pathogenic and non-pathogenic viruses succeeds.

With the new test a significantly higher number of parasites than before can be measured. Apart vom Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica and Cryptosporidium spp. also Cyclospora cayetanensis, Dientamoeba fragilis and Blastocystis hominis are detected – parasites that appear all over the world and not seldomly cause diarrhoeas or unspecific abdominal pain.

The new A10-Request Form already includes a Molecular Genetic Virus Profile (A179) that covers 6 viral Enteritis Pathogens (Norovirus GI, Norovirus GII, Rotavirus, Adenovirus, Astrovirus, Sapovirus). Soon also a molecular genetic evidence for human relevant worms will be available for the first time.

Allergies and Intolerances

Pre-screen IgG1-3/IgG4 (C043A) NEW

Food intolerances through IgG antibodies result from a leaky gut syndrome. A more frequent contact with antigens evokes antibody development of IgG subclasses IgG4 or IgG1-3. Even if the evidence of IgG4 antibodies gives a reliable possibility to measure the most IgG mediated food intolerances internal evaluations over months have shown that there is a minor number of patients reacting stronger with the development of IgG1-3 antibodies.
In these cases only a smaller concentration of IgG4 antibodies can be proven and in some rare cases not at all. To also guarantee detection of these intolerances biovis‘ is now offering a modified Pre-screen IgG1-3/IgG4. Dependent on the result and level of reaction on the pre-screen either a food screen or a compact screen or an omniscreen follows based on IgG4 or IgG1-3 antibody analysis.

Co-Factors of DAO (C395) NEW

New in the A 10 Request Form is a profile including the cofactors of diaminoxidase. Only if sufficient diaminoxidase exists the enzyme is able to unfold its histamine decomposing activity.

Casomorphine and Gliadorphin (C710) NEW

Gliadorphines, Exorphines or Casomorphins may be developed during digestion of gliadine, gluten or milk proteins. Normally, these peptides are entirely decomposed by digestion enzymes (DPP-4). Incompletely decomposed peptides are exorphines that bind to brain opioid receptors and by influencing K+- and Ca2+- flows lead to reduced signal transmission.
Studies showed high exorphine leves were found predominantly in patients with autism, AD(H)S and schizophrenia. In these cases a gluten or casein free diat lead to an improvement of the clinical picture.

With the new A 10 Request Form biovis‘ is now offering a new LC-MS/MS detection method for gliadorpins, exorphines and casomorphins that is significantly more sensitive than previous EIA methods and that measures all relevant decomposition products.

Immunology and Haematology

Cellular Immune Diagnostics NEW

Cellular Immune Diagnostics NEW
For continuous improvement of the practice relevance of our immunological diagnostics, new profiles were added to the A 10 Request Form. The profile „Monocytes-NK Monitoring“ (D197) was developed for patients with susceptibility for infections or reduced immunological resistance in order to check their cellular immune functions. These are above all important for the resistance to viruses, intracellular pathogens or the destruction of tumors.
The profile „Monitoring Immune Activation“ (D187) aims at patients with chronical infections or allergies whose immune systems is suspected to be exhausted due to continued activation.Both new profiles are suitable for a reliable course monitoring and form a solid basis for targeted therapeutic interventions.

Immune Status D181 was also newly added and especially developed for micro immune therapists featuring the cathedral graphics as a particular result presentation.

IP-10 (D275) NEW

IP-10 (interferon gamma induced protein) is a protein mainly produced by monocytes and macrophages after contact with IFN-y. IP-10 is a reliable marker to evaluate the biological activity of IFN-y.

The measurement of IP-10 is suitable for the evidence of a T-cell induced TH1 immune activation or as course control and monitoring for immune modulating therapies.

EliSpot Virus Pool (D890) NEW

In A 10 Request Form newly added in EliSpot Virus Pool (Enzymes Linked Immuno Spot Assay) measures cytokines that are released by immune cells with virus antigens after stimulation and are immobilized on membranes for evidence. The test is very well suitable for the evaluation of TH1 immune competence

LTT-Tests for evidence of specific Type IV reactions on metals NEW

The MELISA-Test that was conducted until today for evidence of metal allergies was taken out of the program due to repeatedly occurring preanalytic problems and not evaluable measurements. The test was replaced by the newly developed lymphocyte transformation tests [(LTT Metals 1 (D990), LTT Metals 2 (D1000)].

Orthomolecular and mitochondrial medicine

Whole Blood Analysis extended (E105) NEW

Besides the previous whole blood mineral analysis biovis‘ offers an extended profile that not only contains K, Na, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn and Se but also Chromium and Manganese with the new request form.

New in the range of biovis‘ analyses are the determination of molybdenum in the whole blood (E145) and boron in the serum (E152). Boron is an important trace element in the bone metabolism, the biosynthesis of steroid hormones and essential for the mitochondrial energy metabolism.

As cofactor of some metalloenzymes, molybdenum is involved in the nucleotides metabolism (urea metabolism), the detoxification of sulphite radicals, transport and storage of iron or the metabolism of alcohol.

Hair Mineral Analysis (E190) NEW

For the first time biovis‘ is now offering a hair mineral analysis that covers 38 different elements. Hair mineral analysis have been conducted for many years in forensic medicine, for suspicion of drug consumption and the evidence of chronical heavy metal contamination.
The analyses gives information on a long-term supply with essential trace elements and minerals. Statements about acute intoxications or fast course control are not possible.

Intracellular evidence of zinc, selen and magnesium UPON REQUEST
Upon request, the intracellular evidence of zinc, selen and magnesium is possible, too. No whole blood samples but washed erythrocytes are tested. Intracellular evidence is of particular advantage for patients with reduced number of cells (anemia).

Organic Acids

The evidence of organic acids in the urine gives information on mitochondrial energy production, vitamin metabolism, amino acid metabolism or present oxidative stress. In addition to the already available complete profile with 24 organic acids (E408) also smaller profiles are now offered that are available at a reduced rate but are thus limited to statements on energy metabolism (citric acid cycle E425) or vitamin metabolism (E435).


Estrogen metabolites and methylation activity (F325) NEW

Estrogens are metabolised in different ways. One possible degradation product is the 2-hydroxyestrone with protective characteristics. Alternatively, 16-hydroxyestrogen with carcinogenic charactistics can be produced.
The ratio of 2-hydroxyestrone to 16-hydroxyestrogen should thus be as high as possible. If low quotients are determined the risk of mamma carcinoma and cervical dysplasia in women and the risk of prostate carcinoma in men increase. Therapies with indole-3-carbinol (contained e.g. in broccoli, cabbage, white cabbage, soy) and glutatione, antioxidants or S-adenosylmethionine can influenence the E2/E16 quotient in a positive way.
The mehtylation activity means the capability of transferring methyl groups which is an essential mechanism of health maintenance, especially if sufficient antioxidants are predominant. Cell structures are constantly being attached by free radicals. DNA damage can be caused that can more easily be repaired by an improved methylation activity.
The 2-/4-methoxyestrone to 2-/4-hydroxyestrone ratio gives information on the COMT (catechol-o-methyltransferase) function and level of methylation capacity. Important methyl groups are e.g. S- adenosylmethionine, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folic acid.


CYP2D6 (H630) NEW

Mutations in the field of the CYP 2D6 gene have a significant influence on the effect of Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen is often used as therapy of breast cancer and causes a competitive inhibition of estrogen receptors. A genetic analysis is thus reasonable before each therapy. For cost reasons, however, analyses of the CYP2D6 gene are hardly conducted. By use of new technique based on a gene chip up to 70 genetic changes (SNPs) can be analysed at once and so costs of CYP2D6 analyses can be significantly reduced. Biovis‘ is now offering this analysis.

Infection Diagnostics

Borrelia Fluor Essence ELiSpot (K121) NEW

The EliSpot is a valuable tool in borrelia diagnostics. It is sometimes proclaimed in the argumentation for the LTT to give better differentiation between an active and past infection.
For the further improvement of the EliSpot now a double fluor essence EliSpot is offered in the A 10 request form for the parallel analysis of y-interferon and interleukin-2. This new EliSpot allows not only a statement on cellular memory reaction but also on separation of active and past infections. The number of spots allows an evaluation of the infection activity.

BloodSpot Test

Tryptophan, Kynurenine, IDO-Activity (N105) NEW

Chronic subclinical inflammations caused by stress or adiposis lead to changes in the immune system. A persistent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines occurs (e.g. IFN-y, TNF-a, IL-6) causing shift in the tryptophan balance that can have negative effect on courses of disease and healing prospects of carcinoma, infections and cardiovascular diseases.
Reason for this shift is an increased IDO-activity that metabolises tryptophan mostly into L-kynurenine and further into inflammatory promoting, neurotoxic metabolites. IDO activation inhibites Th1 and Th17 immunity and strengthens Th2 immunity: a reduced celllar immune defence and a strengthening of the immune tolerance are the result.

In the event of increased L-Kynurenine development the IDO activity can be reduced by natural IDO-inhibitors. These include anti-inflammatory substances in therapeutic dosages, such as berberin, omega-3 fatty acids, curcumin, coenzyme Q10 and vitamin D.

Parameter profile N105 biovis is now offering detects shifts in tryptophan metabolism and allows targeted therapeutic treatment.
